Hi, my name is Nick Sinclair

I’m an Australian entrepreneur whose businesses are actively enabling growth for more than a thousand successful accounting firms globally.

Today I run an award-winning company that I built from zero to $100 million in ten years. I coach owners of high-performing accounting firms around the world. And I’m one of the foremost authorities on enabling growth through global teams.

But getting to where I am today has been quite the rollercoaster ride...

I had a happy, middle-class childhood. We were neither rich nor poor. But my parents worked tirelessly to build a solid family business that was going from strength to strength, while following their accountant’s advice to the letter.

When I was 18-years old, disaster struck.

My parent’s humble business was going so well that the head franchisor decided they wanted to buy back the franchise…

And poor advice left Mum and Dad without a leg to stand on.

We didn’t talk about it at the time, but I remember feeling so helpless.

There was nothing I could do to fix what happened to Mum and Dad, but I knew someday I could protect other families from meeting the same fate.

That’s what led me to the world of accounting and advisory.

At the ambitious age of 24 I launched a firm offering financial planning, buyer’s advocacy, mortgage broking and accounting services.

Growth was rapid, but it wasn’t long before I recognised a painful irony – we were repeating the same mistakes that had once hurt my family.

Despite our best efforts to provide proactive, timely services, we were caught in a relentless cycle of urgent tasks and overwhelming demand.

As if by fate, I chanced upon the concept of offshoring.

I thought, “If we could outsource some of our routine work, our local team would be able to focus on the strategic things that would really help our clients.”

And it worked. With the help of our offshore team, we were finally delivering the quality, proactive service we wanted. And this just fuelled our growth even more.

When other accountants saw what we were doing, they asked if we could help them set up their offshore teams.

Excited by the possibilities, I exited the firm and launched TOA Global.

Within 12 months we had firms queuing up for our help.

Anyone who’s hired and onboarded a single team member knows that these things can take a lot of time and energy… and usually come with their fair share of curve balls.

Well, we had to scale this to attract and hire hundreds of candidates.

When we felt like we had the “People” side of things down to a science, we doubled our efforts in recruiting, training and delivery Processes.

Enter the Ab2 Institute of Accounting; our award-winning certified training company.

It’s one thing to hire smart people… but equipping them with best-practices proven across hundreds of firms? Now that’s powerful.

Since 2018 we have trained more than 4,000+ staff around the world.

By this stage TOA Global was well on its way to its first $100M year. And I was fortunate to have my own great people and solid processes paving the way. Everything was great.

Curiously, I found myself asking…

  1. What’s the true purpose behind my business?
  2. How do I achieve happiness in both business and life?
  3. Am I proud of the business I’ve built?
  4. Can I succeed without any regrets?
  5. How can I make a lasting positive impact?

Perhaps you’ve contemplated similar questions.

For me, it helped crystallize my mission to better the lives and experiences of firm owners and their teams around the world.

That’s why I started Topfirm: a total growth system for successful accounting firm owners.

The coaching, systems and playbooks are a distillation of everything I’ve learnt from working with 1000+ successful accounting firms and scaling my own business to $100M over the past decade.

Have there been points where I’ve felt out of my depth, out of control, making dumb mistakes and questioning everything? Absolutely. But that’s the game of business.

It’s all about getting better, getting smarter and leveling up to meet the next challenge.

My path was far from smooth

It was fraught with missteps and losses, but also invaluable lessons that have shaped my approach to business and life.

Today I want to light the way for your firm’s success with fewer bumps and faster results, which is why I have committed to sharing everything I’ve learned along the way – and making as much of it as freely available and accessible as possible.

I hope you find my content helpful. It’s my privilege to support your firm’s success.

If my journey resonates, I encourage you to join me and a community of successful accounting firm owners:
